Leaf Head Piece Progress Update Shotby ~Arexandria

This is a update on the leather elven head piece I am working on. It will consist of 8 small leaves and 1 large leaf as well as a butterfly. The small leaves are made of 3-4 oz tooling leather. The larger leaf is made of 9-10 oz tooling leather. The large leaf has a rhinestone set into it. These are taken without leather sheen on them just yet.

The lay out of the head piece is yet to come but 5 of the small leaves will be on chains and will have the ability to be free floating barrettes that can be places anywhere in the hair while being connected to the head piece. The leaves are hand cut then hand molded. After they dry they are dyed 3 times with black dye to stiffen them. Then they are base painted with bronze acrylic leather paint and then sponge painted with 3 types of purple acrylic paint and silver acrylic leather pain. The veins were hand carved and then repainted with bronze to stand out.

You can see a finished autumn piece else where on my etsy and these small leaves are available for purchase as barrettes on my etsy shop. Any color combination can be requested! (Im just waiting for someone to want a rainbow sponge painted leaf!)
